Limitless

I took Hunter to see Limitless on Tuesday. Great movie- not to mention that Bradley Cooper is not bad to look at either. I spent the day in the morning getting my hair done, so by the time I was able to grab Hunter, we arrived at the mall about 5 minutes before the movie was to start. We stood in line and grabbed our food from the food court and snuck it in to the theater (dont tell). Great movie- a ton of previews prior so we didnt miss anything.

Good concept for the movie and we both very much enjoyed it.

from comingsoon.net
Plot Summary: Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro star in "Limitless," a paranoia-fueled action thriller about an unsuccessful writer whose life is transformed by a top-secret "smart drug" that allows him to use 100% of his brain and become a perfect version of himself. His enhanced abilities soon attract shadowy forces that threaten his new life in this suspenseful and provocative film.

Aspiring author Eddie Morra (Cooper) is suffering from chronic writer's block, but his life changes instantly when an old friend introduces him to NZT, a revolutionary new pharmaceutical that allows him to tap his full potential. With every synapse crackling, Eddie can recall everything he has ever read, seen or heard, learn any language in a day, comprehend complex equations and beguile anyone he meets—as long as he keeps taking the untested drug.

Soon Eddie takes Wall Street by storm, parlaying a small stake into millions. His accomplishments catch the eye of mega-mogul Carl Van Loon (De Niro), who invites him to help broker the largest merger in corporate history. But they also bring Eddie to the attention of people willing to do anything to get their hands on his stash of NZT. With his life in jeopardy and the drug’s brutal side effects taking their toll, Eddie dodges mysterious stalkers, a vicious gangster and an intense police investigation as he attempts to hang on to his dwindling supply long enough to outwit his enemies.

Tell All Tuesday

  • I missed my weekend recap- but we had a nice weekend. Friday night we had a date night and went to Bonefish Grill. The wait was an hour so we sat at the bar and had a drink and an appetizer. we finally sat down and had our dinner and afterwards, instead of going to the bar to watch basketball, we came straight home. Such losers. Saturday I helped my girlfriend register for her baby shower and then we went to lunch. So nice to have some girl time! Sunday Sean went to his parents house to help unclutter and organize in preparation for them to move up back to the area. with his dad's health deteriorating, they need to be closer. i stayed home with the kids and my parents came over. we had a nice dinner- i made Chicken bruschette bake and it turned out great. Quinlin loved it!
  • I took the day off of work today to spend the day with hunter. He's still sleeping so I made myself a hair appointment for later this morning. I cannot wait- it has been forever since I got my hair done... now the big question is- long or short? yikes!
  • After my hair appointment, I'm going to grab hunter and we're going to the mall for some shopping and lunch and then off to the movies. I'm looking forward to some me and Hunter time.
  • watching Teen Mom 2 on reruns this morning- these girls suck.
  • We picked out the stone for our bar and our buddy Jimmy came over a few days ago to measure how much we need. I am so excited about it.
  • We still have been browsing at homes. Found a ton we like but the timing just isn't right- I need to remove zillow from my Internet browsing capabilities.
  • I need to start potty training Owen...this will be a common occurrence in my tell all Tuesdays i think. ugh.
I think those are all of my random thoughts for the day!

We've Come a Long Way Baby

I was driving into work this morning enjoying my peace and quiet after I dropped the babies off to daycare. For some reason, my mind started turning to when I bought my house. It must be all this house stuff and the closure I'm feeling with realizing that we are probably in it for the long haul.

I was remembering the days when it was just Hunter and I. The house was plenty big for the two of us- in fact- he had taken over 3 of the 4 bedrooms with all his stuff.

Gosh he seemed so tiny then...

When we bought the house and the new furniture, I had a heck of a time trying to find a kitchen table I liked. Nothing "fit" to what I wanted. So- we went without. We spent many of nights picnicking on the kitchen floor eating our dinners in the large open space. I look back now and think what a long way we have come. Those days seem like forever ago- just the two of us. I miss those days- the closeness of Hunter depending on me only, the easy conversations we had because life was simpler then... though, I look forward to the days we have ahead and what an amazing young man he is turning into.

Tell All Tuesday

  • We looked at the one house we had been eyeing last night after work. It was awful and disappointing. Had such promise... was a large home, 5 bedrooms, 4500 square feet and due to the fact that it was a short sale, the price was right. We got there and looked through it and although there were some pros (nice hardwood floors, wainscoting, nice outside structure) the cons definitely outweighed everything... no back yard, up on a hill and the back yard sloped down into a ravine, awful layout- a teeny tiny living room with what they considered the great room to be in the basement. weird layout- you had to walk through the laundry room to get to the bathroom, the master was small, the garage was small. So- in the end, this was not a house for us.
  • which now leads to us thinking- maybe it's best to stay where we are... our house is nice and only 7 years old. We have already done things to it to not look so cookie cutter- finished the basement, full bath in basement, granite in the kitchen, slate floors, working on the bar- just picked the stone for it. So- with the rearranging of the furniture and placement of trinkets, I do like it much better. Maybe we buy in a few years when financially things are better for us.
  • Aside from the house stuff consuming me, things are going well. Hunter went to his grandpa's on Sunday where I get a text message from him showing his front tooth that he had chipped a few years ago had the cap fall off. So- I had to rush him in to the dentist in the middle of the day. I didn't mind- it gave me extra one on one time with him in the afternoon.
  • Quinlin was in a horrible mood yesterday- just overly tired when she finally got home from daycare and ate dinner. She cried through her entire bath (so not like her) and couldn't wait to go to bed. I missed my smiley baby...so will share my smiley little girl from the other day:
    •
  • The weather here is teasing us.... nice and mid 60's to cold and in the 40's the next day. I'm so ready for spring!
  • We are getting on our ebay kick again. I listed a pair of Owen's nike's that he barely wore, a boppy and a pair of new baseball cleats that Hunter never wore. Ebay and I have a love hate relationship. I love the thrill of selling things- but hate having to put the work into it. But- we do need to get rid of so many things around the house. I have a few items on Craigslist now too. Next week I hope to list a few other things that I don't need anymore. Let's hope I can stay motivated!

Weekend Recap

Once again the weekend has come and gone and it went, too too quickly! I feel like we didn't do all that much, yet I was constantly on the go.

Friday night I took Hunter out to a Purim service as he watched his friends who were in it perform a "rock opera" and play. I know it killed him to not be in it, performing himself (as he is quite the performer) but we live too far away and weren't able to commit to the rehearsal schedule. They did a nice job, and Hunter very much enjoyed himself.

On Saturday, Sean went to his parents house for a boys weekend- 6 of his closest friends from high school reliving their glory days. They got down there about 10am, started drinking at noon and were all passed out about 10:30pm. Ha! They were such girls leading up to the trip as well- giddily talking on the phone, sending pictures of the different alcohol in preparation, etc. I'm glad they had a nice time.

While Sean was away, I went with my realtor friend Megan and checked out a few more builders. It was nice walking through the models, seeing what I like and don't like, but weird to do it without Sean. We had a long discussion over the weekend and I think have come to peace with staying where we are. Though- we are looking at one home, already built, today just because we have had our eye on it. If we leave there today and know it's not the home for us, we will not put our house on the market. We have gone back and forth and really, if we're going to make a big move, the time is now. That way, we don't need to disrupt Hunter from school and his friends. If we wait until he goes to college (which is only 4 years away- yikes), then we may not even want to start over with a mortgage, etc. We always said we didn't want to be house poor- and our home is only 7 years old. I would think, at that point, we can live with the things we don't have- and try to correct the things we want and can. So- all still up in the air.

On Sunday, I took the babies, with my parents back to the temple for a Purim carnival. Hunter was working it, as part of the youth group, but Quinlin and Owen even were still a little too young. They enjoyed themselves, but it was a little chaotic and the games were slightly over Owen's head. Afterwards, while Hunter was cleaning up, I took Owen and Quinlin to Karen's house and they got to play with Jillian. It was so nice to be able to go and visit her and have the kids play together. We stayed for about an hour or so and then I had to rush to get Hunter to bring him home where he was promptly picked up by his grandpa for the night. I felt like I didn't even get to see him at all this weekend!

Sean was home when I finally made it back and it was nice to hang out with the family and relax the rest of the day. Now I need to play catch up on all the chores I didn't work on this weekend. I'm surprised anyone made it out of the house today with anything clean to wear!

March Madness

That time of year again! we filled out our brackets, and of course, I am currently tied for last place in our little pool. There are 9 of us so we'll see how I end up doing. I picked Kansas winning the whole thing, but only because Sean picked Ohio State- so figured that gave us more of a chance. Who Knows.

Think Owen is cheering for anyone in particular?

He's a buckeyes fan through and through, but any chance he gets to wearing something of his brothers, he'll take. So- go Buckeyes! (or Kansas)

Happy St Patty's Day

I tried to get a St Patty's Day edition picture of Quinlin... fail. Have you noticed why she hasn't shown up on the blog lately? I can't get the crazy little lady to sit still. She is all about being on the go! So- our attempt turned fail:

at least someone was willing to pose:

I am looking forward to our annual tradition of corned beef dinner from the little local joint near my house. They make the best sandwiches- and it means a night off from cooking! How sad is this- I look forward to the corned beef dinner as opposed to the green eggs and beer I used to have in college...

Weekend Recap

We had such a nice weekend!

Friday night we cleaned a little bit and then I waited up for my sister to arrive into town for the weekend. She got home about 10:15pm but we had gotten so much snow that day that she couldnt get into the driveway, so I had to wake a sick sean and send him outside with Hunter to shovel and snow blow. I am very ready for winter to be over!

Saturday, my new friend Megan came over. She's a realtor who I met through work and in casual conversation about a week or so ago, I made a comment about wanting her to come over and stage my house. I wasn't happy with how I had furniture placed and wasn't feeling happy with the way the house was looking. We have also been in thoughts of moving- as we did about a year ago. We would love a three car garage for all of sean's gear and some other little things, but our house is fine if we choose to stay in it. Anyway, Megan came over and we went to work right away. I wished I had taken before pictures but will try to take some afters.

We started in the kitchen decluttering and moved on to the living room. All the toys went down to the basement in a closet and we moved a sofa table down there as well and rearranged all the furniture. She also placed my photos in a small cabinet and rearranged the decorative pieces on top of the media cabinet and fireplace. My living room looks huge now.

We rearranged the dining room as well by moving which wall the hutch and buffets were on. It made such a big difference. She also reorganized everything in the hutch and decorated a bit on top of the buffet. It is one of my new favorite rooms.

We didn't have time to move things around upstairs but she gave us a gameplan as to what we need to do in the bedroom with the furniture and will work on that this week. When we were finished, we left the house and went to a model home of a builder she wanted us to see (we had mentioned maybe selling and wanting to build). I loved it. You can do so much custom work- as opposed to when I bought my house originally. The house we saw was very nice, the rooms were bigger, the mud room was amazing. It is something we are strongly considering and now just need to meet with them to see exactly what it will cost us to build if we were to go that route. And- we would need to sell our house first, so...that is something we need to work on. We just need to declutter what we don't need and finish the stone work on the bar and we can put our house on the market. And- the fact is- if we don't sell our house for XXX, then we don't sell and can be fine where we are.

We rushed home from the house visit to get Hunter for his basketball game. My sister and I went and left Sean at home with the kids. I'm so glad I went too. Hunter's team won- and are the champions of his league. They went the entire season undefeated!

After the game, we had take out and just hung out at home. I felt bad that we didnt do anything more exciting with my sister, but with the babies, it's too hard.

On Sunday, we cleaned a little more, donated a bunch of stuff to goodwill and came back home. Sean's sister came over and cooked us dinner (a nice surprise) and that was it. Now on to the week ahead!

Weekend Recap

We had such a nice weekend- a weekend with nothing to do and nowhere to be. I think we need more of those. It had been a rough week with bad colds and on Friday, I had no voice. It started with the sexy voice (remember the Friends episode when Monica was sick and Phoebe wanted the sick voice because it sounded better for her "smelly cat" song?). I had the sexy voice- which quickly turned to no voice which even quicker turned to a voice that sounded like an animal was dying.

My parents came over on Friday to take Hunter for the weekend so we asked for them to stay and watch Quinlin for a little while so we could take Owen to the Jumpyard. Hunter wanted to come too- I had such a great time with my boys. Who wouldn't enjoy themselves in a huge room of inflatables?

Owen looks thrilled, doesn't he?

Hunter loved trying to run up this slide.

Owen loved to bounce.

And loved this slide too.

It was a fun night- followed by lots of disinfecting when we got home.

The rest of the weekend was full of errands- Home Depot, Lowe's, Pier 1, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marc's, Sam's Club. You name it- we shopped there.

We also organized the front closet and have been compiling a good will bag and an eBay pile. If I can get things organized and sold, in addition to paying off Sean's truck (5 more payments), we can get a cleaning lady and possibly re-do our living room. Let me tell you- I am motivated to clean!

Saturday night we watched (finally) the Hurt Locker. I was looking forward to seeing it- but watched it and didn't understand the point. Oh well...

My parents came over for dinner Sunday- meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies- and I even prepped our chicken for tonight's dinner. After all the shopping we did this week, we shouldn't be eating out anytime soon (and that will allow us to save more). Yay!

Funny Things Said

our basketball hoop fell over in a big windstorm a while ago (end of summer I believe), and ever since has been in the backyard until the weather breaks. Out of the blue Owen said "basketball broken. Must see Dr. Deena- she fix it". It's funny how he associates making things better all happening through his pediatrician!

It's been a busy week- I'm sure as noted through lack of posts. Will try and post some this weekend with updates.

Tell All Tuesday

  • After a rough day at home yesterday, I have learned that Sean will never be a stay at home dad.
  • Though it was really cute to see the fun things he was doing during the day with the kids- he took Owen's big Wheel out of the box to play with, they watched movies, they played soccer in the basement- you know, all the normal things you do with sick children.
  • I dropped them off at school this morning- hopefully they stay there all day. Neither had a temperature- so hopefully all are back to normal.
  • I did a little decorating over the weekend- pics to hopefully follow tomorrow if I can remember to bring my camera.
  • I was totally shocked yesterday while reading my Bachelor spoilers....and then watching last night. I don't know how I manage to get sucked in every.single.time.
  • Charlie Sheen is crazy- mark my words- tragedy is not far from happening. It makes me think back to the day a few years back when I played in a Fafarazzi league with my FK's. Heath Ledger died, I picked him up and scored tons of points. If I were in a league right now, Sheen would be a great pickup. (It's kind of like Fantasy Football). Any FKs reading this, should we start a league again?
  • I watched a new show that I had on my dvr last night- Traffic Light. I believe it's from the producers of the Hangover. I really liked it- looking forward to watching the other two episodes I have taped.
I think that is all for today- here's hoping for healthy kids, a busy day at work and a fun night of taco Tuesday!
