Weekend Recap

We had a very good weekend. Much of it spent pondering and debating the "potential" move. No decisions made, which is fine. I dont want to feel rushed in anyway.

On Friday we hung out with my parents and watched the NFL Draft. Saturday, we woke up to cold and rain, so we decided to go to Aurora Farms. Not the smartest of decisions, and we forgot a hat for Quinlin, but it was nice to do something with the two babies. Which also meant we got to break out the new double stroller- my new obsession. I researched high and low to find the perfect stroller to meet our families needs and I also found a deal I couldnt pass up. Now- to just take a picture of the kids in their new batmobile! We did some shopping (had to buy a hat for Q) and then had a nice lunch at a little diner there. Owen, though, had other ideas of what a nice, peaceful lunch actually meant. So- we rushed through eating to get home so he could take a nap. Our Saturday was topped off with a "hot date" to Marc's and Giant Eagle. I can feel the excitement of it just typing out the words. Ha!
On Sunday, we took a quick trip to Home Depot to finalize blinds for the basement and came home and took the babies on a walk around the neighborhood- again breaking out my new obsession. I cannot wait for the weather to break to use it more. Good times!
I had a baby shower to go to that afternoon for my friend Christine. Cant wait to find out what they're having. My guess is on a boy! We'll see if I am right! After the shower, I came home and made dinner for the family. My parents came back over with Hunter so I wanted something nice so we had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and steam veggies. Owen devoured it. It's a nice feeling to finally start putting things on his tray and see him actually eat them! This picky stage is not fun! So, all in all, a good weekend. We'll see where the week goes from here!

To Move or Not to Move

I was presented with the offer to move to East Hampton. Oh the decisions to be made! On one hand, opportunity of a lifetime. On the other hand, it means uprooting my entire family. Moving a family of 5 cannot be easy.

I called Sean who was so supportive about it. he knows what an opportunity it could be. we're going to talk things over this weekend to discuss the pros and cons. It was also offered that we go out there to check things out as well. so- i think it would be good to make an honest effort and think about it.

The only thing I'm mostly hesitant about is leaving our families. Having three small children would be hard living in a foreign town with no help in case of emergencies. In addition to being away from family is the money aspect. Just browsing online in East Hampton and neighboring cities shows that we couldnt afford it. I was told that shouldnt be something I should worry about- all things that could be part of a compensation package, etc.

So- my mind is racing, questions are forming, nerves are happening, etc. Yikes!

Weekend Recap

This weekend was good though went way too fast.

Friday- I had dinner plans with my girlfriends. Towards the end of the workday, I started feeling sick...popped some immodium hoping it would cure it, but it didnt. I debated even going out but figured I was already on this side of town. So- I left work and drove to Megan's and then followed Megan up to Crocker Park. We had 6pm dinner reservations at Brio. It was Me, Megan, Jamelie, Kelli, Jill, Sawsan and Megan's friend Tricia. Well the night did not get any better so I ordered my food, took, 3 bites and went home. The sad thing is that as soon as I pulled into my garage, I felt better. I had a little bit more of my dinner when I got home and then hung out with my family. Jen was over visiting so we watched the Life series for a little bit and went to bed around 10:00pm. It sucks that I have been getting sick more often and again. Deciding if I need to head back to the gastro for a new diagnosis (is it not IBS?)

Saturday we woke up and began cleaning the house like crazy. Sean's goal was to get the entire house clean this weekend. We started downstairs and got everything cleaned- the kitchen, living room, dining room and half bath. I also did laundry like crazy! we then moved upstairs and I got Quinlin's room clean, Hunter cleaned his and we started ours. For some reason, ours is always the last room to do- the one most neglected. We then took a break (finished for the night) and went to Michael F's first birthday party. Had a great time. we saw Jimmy and Tanya, Kish, Kuehn and his boys and of course Ed and Susan. We left at about 6:30, came home where we met our sitter Danielle to drop the kids off and then went to Cleats in Parma. Tanya's aunt owns it so it was a great time. stayed there for the night just hanging out with Jimmy and Tanya, Kuehn and Shittyman who I hadnt met before. Got home about midnight.

Sunday we woke up and started cleaning some more. This time did more laundry, cleaned Owen's room and then continued on with our room. My parents were supposed to bring Hunter home home about 12:30 but didnt come over until 2:00pm. I was frustrated as I was trying to keep Owen up for them, needed to shower, etc. It ended up working out though because Owen didnt nap very long and they were able to play with him and Quinlin so I could get ready. We then went to Jennifer's house because Sean's parents were in town. stayed for dinner and visited. We got home about 7:00, bathed the kiddies and then settled down for the night watching Couples Retreat. We both enjoyed it, though hard to stay awake after a long weekend!

Week ending 4/16

So- this week has gone by fast. Thank goodness. Remember when we were younger and it would take forever for your birthday or the holidays to come? Now it seems like life never slows down!

This has been a crazy week. On Tuesday, the 13th, Hunter participated in his first track meet. I had to work so Sean was able to be there to support him. The meet consisted of three different schools, so was rather large. Hunter participated in the 4x200 relay. I am so proud of him for joining the team. He may not be the best, but he's enthusiastic and tries hard and that's all I can ask for. His team is the B team so I dont think the scores count, but he did well. He was runner #3 and did so well they told him they were going to move him to either runner #1 or #2. I wish I could have seen him. Sean brought him home at about 7:30.

Wednesday was a casual day. After work, I picked up the babies and drove by Sean and Hunter on the golf course. We stopped the car so Owen could see them and he cried and cried as we drove away leaving them to golf. They came home and we ate marinated beef kabobs- seriously so good. I was mad when my kabob was done as I could have eaten more. I cant believe I'm writing about the kabobs, but they were incredible. Loser...I know.

Thursday was a day... Hunter had a track meet at Center Middle School in Strongsville, so I went there straight after work. He was competing in 3 different events- the mile, the 800meter and the 4x200. I missed the mile but he told me he beat an eighth grader so that made him happy. I got there just in time to watch the 4x200. They had him run leg #2...they were slow. I dont know if they just got a slow start, but it was pretty bad. The other teams had finished by the time Theo, the 3rd runner, handed off the baton to their anchor. Oh well. I then got to watch the 800 and Hunter came in last. Though- according to him, not last because he beat the same eighth grader who competed in a different leg. The meet ended just in time as was had to book it out of there to get the babies from daycare. The daycare closes at 6:30pm and we pulled in at 6:28pm. Lucky.
We got home and all was fine and dandy. Ate Burger King (I didnt feel like cooking) and Owen was playing after dinner when he decided to run around the house like a mad man. He was running and laughing, tripped on a kitchen chair and fell right into the corner of the kitchen island. I scooped him up right away, tears flowing and looked at his head which immediately began to swell. I tried putting something cold on it, but it swelled so quickly, I got scared. I never saw anything like it. I called Sean, who was fishing, and told him I was taking Owen to urgent care. He cried and cried the whole way there and of course, I pulled in and he had stopped. I walked in and he seemed fine. And, of course, the bruise started going down. I debated on checking him in, but a nice man in the waiting room said that it looked like a pretty nasty bump and that he should be looked at. i took his advice and we were brought back. The doctor looked at Owen and diagnosed him with a hematoma. so- probably the most expensive diagnosis to tell me its a bump, but better I took him in as its better to be safe than sorry. Sean met us up there just as we were being discharged. We brought Owen home and put him in the tub where he preceeded to bump his head again on the faucet. Again, it started swelling right away. Poor little guy- couldnt catch a break.
Today is Friday- I'm looking forward to the week coming to a close. I have plans tonight with the girls to go to dinner at Brio and shop at Crocker Park. Saturday should consist of house cleaning and then a birthday party for Michael Fischbach who is turning 1 and then more cleaning on Sunday. After this week, I am definitely ready for the weekend!

Weekend Recap

Our weekend was good- yet they always seem to go so fast!

Friday started with going to Eddie's Creekside with my parents. They were over watching Quinlin for the day so we took them to dinner as a thank you. Dinner was good until I started to not feel well. Once at home for a little while, I started feeling much better. One of the things that helped me feel better was the arrival of the above picture in my inbox.
My friend Colleen has a photography business and came over at the end of March to take some newborn photos of Quinlin and some pictures of the family. I can't wait to see the rest of the pictures!
Saturday was fun- I went to Rocknes for lunch with Tiffany and Mason, Krista, Melissa, her sister Erin and Erin's son Dawson and of course Quinlin and Owen. Hunter wanted to come but I thought he'd be bored. I think I'll bring him next time. After lunch, we went shopping at Aurora Farms. I only made it to a few stores before I knew Owen would have a complete meltdown. So home I went. Christine and Jay came over to see the family and have pizza. They are expecting and due at the end of July. My guess is that baby Jatzek is a boy so we'll see if I'm right.
Sunday ended up being a day of running around in Mentor. went shopping while we waited for Hunter to finish with his hebrew lesson. back home for a day of laundry. I still have about 4 loads left to do, in addition to putting everything away. Our weekend just never seems long enough- never enough time to catch up with everything.

Another One Bites the Dust

well- yesterday started out normally. I was sitting in my office and a co-worker asked how the kids were. I gladly talked about all of them, that they were finally healthy, etc. Not 2 hours later, I got a call from the daycare telling me that Quinlin was now sick. She had a temperature of 102.5 and needed to be picked up right away. I was in the middle of a construction meeting about my office space when the call came. At that moment, I started to feel very torn about being a careerwoman and being a mom. I wanted to rush to the daycare and scoop my baby up, but I couldnt. I couldnt be "that girl" who is never in the office because of her kids. So- luckily Sean was able to grab her.

I rushed home from work to relieve Sean as he had to go and pickup his new snowmobile that he had just purchased off of Craig's List. As soon as I walked through the door with Owen, Sean was ready to leave. Poor Quinny was irritable/tired/stressed and just couldnt get comfortable. I held her and rocked her while Hunter entertained the terror...ahem, Owen. Speaking of which...

Hunter came home! yay! It felt like he was away for ever. I know it was only a week, but I am so glad to have him home. I pulled in the garage and Hunter opened the door. I pointed him out to Owen and he absolutely squeeled with delight. he missed him so much! Hunter came and pulled Owen out of the car and played/entertained him while I took care of Quinlin.

Her temperature seems to be going down but we're still having her go to the pediatrician so that we know its nothing more than what Owen had and not her ears or anything. I think between all the ear infections that I have been through between Hunter and Owen, I'm slightly gunshy.

Looking forward to the fact that today is friday. I cant wait for the weekend. It's not even like we have a lot planned, but nice to have some time around the house, especially since we were away last weekend for Easter.

Just another day

Not much new to report. I have been under the weather since Owen came home from daycare last week sick. The joys of having kids as they pass everything on to us since we take care of them. I'm finally starting to feel better but was pretty down and out the past few days. Hunter has been away in Michigan for almost a week for his spring break. I'm so glad that he has a great relationship with all his grandparents. he's a very lucky kid. He's having such a good time, he doesnt want to come home. Makes me a little sad, I know he misses us. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to having him back. I know Owen misses him a ton as well- he likes to bang on his bedroom door. He'll be really excited when tomorrow comes.

Aside from that, I really want to start getting organized at home and at my office. I have all these ideas racing through my head, but no time or energy to actually do them. At work, we're under a bit of construction and RL decided we would redo my office as well. So- I plan on organizing when the construction is finished. easy to maybe purge through everthing as I pack and unpack. I cannot wait to use my workspace as it should be used...not just as a closet to house things.

Maybe tonight I'll find motivation to clean...or not.

Dear Quinlin

12 weeks old!!! I cannot believe it! You are still such a sweet baby girl. Some highlights:
  • You have started cooing and smiling and do it all the time. You really light up when Daddy talks to you. You laugh and laugh!
  • You wear 3 month clothing and size 1 diapers
  • You drink 5 oz every 3.5 hours.
  • still not sleeping through the night. I know we'll get there soon. some nights you sleep until your usual 2am ready to eat, and others you go until 5am.

Dear Owen

Dear Owen, you are 20 months old! How the time has flown by- I cant believe it. It is so great to watch you learn new things, try new things, explore, etc.
words: all done, hi, bye, all gone, let's go, Ball (which you say obsessively), hot, hippo, shoe, two,
sounds- how does a birdie go- tweet tweet
you love to squeel with excitement when you see birds and dogs. though- if a dog gets too close, you get scared.
you hate to come inside. all you want to do is play outside!
you are starting to like Quinlin more- you give her kisses and try to share your oranges with her, it really is the sweetest thing!
sign language- please, more, bye bye, kisses
