Magic Mike, July 4 and my birthday recaps

I don't know why this month seams to be flying by! Already a week later, I am finally writing about the 4th of July. First, though, I must mention my girls night to see Magic Mike. After several scheduling attempts, a few girlfriends and I went to see Magic Mike. I didn't hear the greatest things about it leading up to it, and was almost a little hesitant to spend my money on an evening movie (you know movies are expensive!). But- I am so glad we didn't cancel our plans. We picked Tuesday night, July 3rd to go since we all had off of work the next day.

Ok- I loved it. It definitely wasn't the best acting by any means, and a few parts were slow, but the movie was hilarious. Matthew McConaughey was hilarious and Channing Tatum was an amazing dancer and of course, was easy on the eyes. The movie had us laughing in so many different parts. We went out for apps and drinks afterwards and it was a really great night. Highly recommend!

Sean had to work the morning of July 4th so I just stayed around the house with the kids. Hunter went with his dad and family on that side for the day and in the afternoon when Sean returned home, we went to the neighbors at the end of the street for a cookout. I should have known when we were in for disaster when the kids didn't nap and instead of sleeping I had found that they found a green marker and decided to draw all over each other. And I'm not kidding- arms, stomachs, legs, eyelids, cheeks. everywhere. We threw them in the tub, bathed them and then went to Steve and Keirstie's. It was so hot (97*) and miserable. The kids played- water balloons, huge water slide, baby pool, water balloons. We played corn hole and Sean played bocce ball. Everything was fine, until I had to bring Quinlin home to change her diaper about 6:30pm. Owen came too and at one point, they each had a meltdown. Screaming, hot, overtired, it was awful. I called Sean who wasn't answering and texted him to come home and help me. Owen eventually made it back to the party after calming down. And Quinlin- nothing made that girl happy. So at 7:45 I put her to bed, screaming bloody murder and by 8pm, she was sound asleep. Sean's sister stopped over and Owen came home to visit with her and really that was our night. It started pouring rain about 9pm and Sean made his way home, but once the meltdowns started, it didn't even feel like the fourth of July. No fireworks, no sparklers, no pictures, nothing. Kind of disappointing.

My birthday was on the 7th (36- yikes) and on the 6th Sean surprised me by buying me a new anniversary band for my ring finger. We had always walked about the fact that I wanted one and to him it was the perfect time- my birthday and our upcoming 5 year wedding anniversary. He ruined the surprise by telling me he was going to do it, but I'm glad he did because he thought my ring finger was a size 6. It's not- I wear a 4.5 so a size 6 would have been way to big. We went to the store, picked it out and then rushed home to go to dinner with my parents for my birthday.

We went to a wood fire grill near the house and the food was good, but the kids were not. After several potty breaks between Owen and Quinlin and overall restlessness, Sean ended up leaving the restaurant with both babies and vowing to never bring them to a restaurant again. They weren't that bad...but when you see the people sitting near you obviously getting agitated by our crazy children, best to get out of the situation. I stayed with my parents and Hunter and finished packing up our meals and then we were on the way home. Once home, my parents watched the crazies for a little while so we could run back to the jewelry store to pick up my newly resized ring. And I loved it. I'm a lucky girl:
Since we got my ring, Sean deserved some fishing items as an early anniversary present.
We came home and the kids played and had treats. Perfect friday night.

Saturday was my birthday and we started it by leaving the kids with my in-laws and took Hunter to the golf course. I don't know what I was thinking to want to play 9 holes in 95*. A little crazy. Luckily we played a scramble- but I was dying. I only played 7 holes and decided to hang in the cart while the boys finished playing. I putted awesome by the way.
Hunter looking so old on the golf cart!

That night we went to our buddies annual party- Mikeapalooza.
And I was surprised with two birthday cakes. so sweet!

My oldest friend's birthday is 2 days after mine so we celebrated both our days!

Cute pic of Sean's cousin and his fiance. They just got engaged last month.

We were in the basement playing pool when the guys stumbled across some fun items in storage.
And we found a blanket that was monogrammed for our Mike's wedding... he's been divorced for 4 years now. Not sure why he still has the blanket? So leave it to Sean to let the fun begin.
And turn it into a toga...
 He is nothing but hilarious.

At the end of the night, I got serenaded by Mike and Socrates. Love those guys.

Really a nice long weekend!

Apparantly I think I am a teenage girl

I must be a teenage girl trapped in my 35 year old body because I suddenly seem to have a huge crush on Zac Efron. I can't believe I just admitted that. The preview for his new movie The Lucky One looks amazing.
God he looks sexy! OMG- admitting that again. Now to find some girlfriends to go with me when it comes out... I don't think it will be hard to find some. We saw the preview when we went to see Friends with Kids and I think every single one of us had our mouths dropped during the shower scene. Swoon.

Ok enough. Last teenage girl confession... I like the new Justin Bieber song Boyfriend.

Tell me I am not alone.

Weekend Recap

we had a good weekend!

Friday- Owen's second soccer game. I had to stay home with Quinlin so didn't get to see it. Owen played- until someone stole the ball and he was done. I told Sean to get video and pictures and I think he came back with one. If I can pull it off the video camera, I'll post it here. After soccer, Sean, Hunter and I had family movie night in the basement. X Men First Class- I hated it. the boys thought it was ok. At least my popcorn was good.

Saturday- Sean and his buddy Jimmy worked on getting the stone put on our bar so I took my MIL to her new house and unloaded a car load of stuff with her. The official move is mid week. I then took her to HH Gregg and helped her pick out her fridge, washer and dryer. It was also Saturday that I decided to drive with Sean's phone on top of my car... it flew off about a mile from my house. I had no idea until I was at the new house and he called me from his work cell and asked where his phone was...he was livid. well his mom and I searched and searched and found it. thank god he had a cover on it because that broke but the phone stayed in tact- minus the battery. no clue where the battery ended up but at least I had a spare from work and he has a working phone. ugh.

Sunday- football party. it was a great time. we had the bouncer going for the kids, the cornhole boards out, the game on the radio in the garage and it on both tvs in the house. nobody went to the basement though to watch on the big screen. must remember to move food downstairs for parties.

and because posts are always better with pictures...

At the ENT like a big boy for his routine ear/ tonsil check.

Breaking out the new fall wardrobe. I bought her the cutest sweaters for this fall/ winter.

Jimmy stoning the bar

My MIL entering her new house

New jammies that my parents bought Owen.

The only pictures I took from our football party. Quinlin and her cousin out cruising.

Weekend Recap- Crazy Stupid Love

We had a really nice weekend. On Friday, we ventured out to dinner at Olive Garden. For those of you who know me, or if I've written this before, it's rare when we take the kids to dinner because they are crazy (well not Hunter at least). But- they are now getting to an age where they will sit and listen, or be entertained by crayons or our phones (it's sad when Owen can go direct to youtube for the Simpsons or Football hits to entertain himself). After dinner we came home and attempted family movie night in the basement. We had rented The Other Guys from netflix. Not so much a fan. I didn't even finish it.

On Saturday, we went to feed ducks in the morning and walked around a local park and then I went off with my girlfriends that night. I saw Crazy Stupid Love- and loved it!

I think it's my second favorite movie of the summer so far (first being Horrible Bosses). It was a really cute flick- and I now think I have a thing for Ryan Gosling- yummy! After the movie, we went to TreBelle for dinner. I had never been there before and always wanted to go. It's next door to Ken Stewarts Lodge and was as fantastic as that restaurant is. Well...let me re-phrase. We got there at 7:30pm. By 9pm, we still hadn't gotten our food. The manager came over and apologized and said the computers had gone down. They said our meals and drinks were on the house and could she get us another round. How nice was that? They definitely made right of the situation. And none of us complained- it was just nice to visit with everyone that I honestly didn't notice the time it was taking for the food.

Sunday was more low key. The kids played in the pool, we napped, and then my parents came over. We celebrated my mom's birthday with dinner at Creekside and then had Oreo pie at home. Sean's sister stopped over as well to drop off Owen's birthday gift (needed to hide it in the basement).

This week shouldn't be as busy at work for me. I just need to find some time to go birthday shopping for Owen. Oh my goodness...the kid is going to be 3. Yikes!

Weekend Recap

Another weekend has come and gone. On Friday, we went with my parents to dinner. It was our first attempt and bringing the babies out to dinner in a long time. Nervous from the start, we picked up the kids from daycare and made our way to the restaurant. The whole time, Owen kept saying he was sick and holding his head. I knew it was a disaster waiting to happen. We got to the restaurant, Pizzaria Cerrino, and my parents already had a table with Hunter so it worked out perfectly. They were angels- minus the few times that Owen had to go outside to attempt to puke (gross tmi). I think he played too hard during the day, didn't have enough water and just had a headache. At least I know we can attempt to bring them in public again! LOL.  Because Owen didn't feel well, my parents didn't stay like they had originally planned to so they could watch Quinlin while we took Owen to the local Home Days. So- no festival this year. We did enjoy the fireworks though, just from the comfort of Hunter's bedroom window.

On Saturday, we went to a local park and let the kids play.

We dropped Hunter and his buddy off at the golf course to golf a quick 9 (which in 14 year old speak would be about 3.5 hours). The kids napped and in the late afternoon I went with my friend Megan to see Horrible Bosses.

I didn't have many expectations for the movie- but it was hilarious! We laughed our asses off- and kept telling each other that it was a movie our husbands would have enjoyed it too. It was cleverly written, raunchy, and maybe a tad predictable, yet not quite. And would you have guessed that this was Colin Farrell?
I highly recommend. I thought it was better than Bridesmaids... (though Bridesmaids I thought was slightly over-hyped anyway).

Saturday night, after the kids were in bed, Hunter babysat and we went to a little townie bar that everyone in our neighborhood raves about. We had a great time. Sean got wings- the best he's ever had apparently, and I got a prime rib dinner. It was nice to get out a little bit on our own.

Sunday- the big day. Owen's first Indians game. We got a sitter for Quinlin and took Owen to the game. He's really into baseball lately and we wanted to treat him for doing so well with potty training (though had our first accidents on Friday at school (nap time) and Friday night. But- other than that, he's doing awesome!

Owen all ready to go before the big game

Our seats were incredible. I got them through work and had no idea where we would be sitting. We ended up behind home plate about 8 rows back. It was in the 90's though- so incredibly hot. We ended up moving back a few rows to get in the shade.

Peanuts

And then there is today.... Quinlin is 18 months old ((tear)). I will have a write up tomorrow when I have some time about her turning 18 months and then her stats next week after her well-visit. So- teaser pics of baby girl at 18 months:

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

We had such a nice weekend (well, for the most part). Thursday night Quinlin came home from school with a temperature of 102. So- my nice day off that was planned for Friday turned into a cuddle day with my little chiquita. I don't mind though... I love that she's a cuddler. So, she and I hung out on Friday and then I left her with daddy and took Owen with me to a baby shower. So nice to see my friends, always hard with a kid in tow, who decided it was time to leave shortly after dessert because he wanted to rush home to watch the Simpsons.

Saturday my parents came over in the afternoon, and we took a trip to Sam's Club. That night, we got a sitter and did group night out.

We saw The Hangover Part II and went to the Winking Lizard for dinner. The movie was good, the same as the original so some very funny moments, just not as shocking. At dinner, I all of a sudden felt sick as a dog so we rushed home and I was sick for the night. :(

Sunday we took out the water table (Quinlin loved it and even attempted to climb in) and then went to the Rib Burn Off in Berea. It was so expensive- probably my first, and last rib fest. We met Sean's co-worker up there with his girlfriend and daughter (who was Owen's age) and then they came back to our house afterwards so the kids could play. Hunter then had his two buddies sleep over.

Monday we went to my in-laws for the day. The kids had a blast- fishing, canoeing, water fights, 4 wheeling... All was fine, though we knew Owen was a little off... He got hit with a horrible fever and then on the ride home started vomiting. We were in two different cars- I drove Hunter and his two friends and Quinlin, and Sean drove Owen and all the fishing gear so when he pulled over on the side of the freeway, I knew it was because Owen was puking.

We got him home and he threw up from 7pm-10:45pm and then again at 3:45am. Needless to say, we are just exhausted. Sean took the day off with him and I think he's doing better.

Never fails, even in nice weather my kids get sick. Hopefully he can kick it and we can all get healthy and back to some normalcy.

Mother's Day Weekend

We had an amazing weekend- probably one of the better weekends in a long time. It was a great, family filled weekend and memories that will last a long time.

Friday night, we got a sitter for the babies and Sean and I took Hunter to see Thor.
I had absolutely no urge to see it, but I have some girls movie nights coming soon and was guilted into it. And- I'm so glad I did. Chris Hemsworth is pretty easy on the eyes, and it turned into a love story as well, so definitely wasn't just an unrealistic comic book type movie. The movie theater was filled with dudes- I think I was one of three women in there- haha. If you do go to see it, make sure you stay all the way to the very end, as like all other marvel movies, a little trailer for the future movies after the credits finish.

Saturday morning we woke up and supported the UMDF by attending the wildlife walk for the cure at our local zoo. It was such a beautiful day and I was looking forward to the babies seeing the animals, but walking for an organization and seeing families affected by the disease was truly eye opening. Makes me feel thankful and blessed for my healthy children.

It was a good day to attend the zoo as they had the grand opening for the new elephant exhibit.

We came home from the zoo and worked on our mothers day cards for the grandma's...

Owen's first stick figure

Then went to my Sister in Law's house for bbq for Sean's side of the family for mothers day.

We tried to get a cousins shot...but Quinlin was having a diva freak out.

Mother's Day was Sunday. I had to post what the babies made at school for me:

Owen decided to dress himself for mother's day...

That look, unfortunately, will have to wait. Since we were going out in public... I thought better to put him in something a little more weather appropriate.

We went to my parents house for a family bbq. It had probably been a year or so since I had seen everyone (cousins, aunt and uncle), so nice to get together.

We tried to do a cousins picture for this side of the family too...but it didn't quite work.

And Owen does wear clothes- he just hates them.
