Weekend Recap

Well- I would like to do a more in-depth post, but things have gotten slightly crazy at work. So- my short but sweet version!

As you know I was on vacation last week. It was so nice to have days to myself, lunch plans with friends, time with Hunter, etc. On Friday- I had my first bloggy friend meet up! I am already on a forum where I have met some fantastic friends through the internet so I wasn't nervous at all to meet another person that way too. I met up with Karen and was so excited that we finally made a plan. If you may remember from posting here, Karen and I have so much in common. Our paths have crossed all through our adult life- it isnt even funny. When we made plans, we had to figure out where to meet. we live about 40 minutes from each other, and since we were bloggy strangers, would seem a bit odd to say "hey come on over" though the thought did cross my mind. We met at Chick-Fil-A (yum) because I needed a place that wild man Owen could run freely. I cannot remember the last time we took him to a restaurant (September maybe for my dad's birthday) and he's just at an age where it isn't enjoyable. So- we did Chick-Fil-A because they have a playroom and it worked out perfectly. I got there first and Karen and adorable Jillian showed up and it was instant friendship. No awkwardness- we gave each other a huge hug and sat down to eat. We were there for over 2 hours- we had such a great time! I look forward to many other playdates and fun shopping dates with our new friends. :)

Our weekend in pics:

A fantastic lunch date and shopping partner!

our shopping success- we finally bought boots- and then the temperature hit 59* and all the snow melted... go figure. At least it's Ohio so it will be back.

In addition to boots- we bought shoes! (do you see a career as a Calvin Klein model in any of these pics?)

If the modeling doesn't work out, he could be a hair dresser?

Here is our lunch date with Karen and Jillian!!!

and here are the babies disinfecting in the tub afterwards from the play area...

New Years Eve brought us a low key night. We had our neighbors Matt and Kerri over along with their 2 year old Adam- Owen's best friend. The cuties in their matching jammies:

Quinlin decided to learn how to climb the stairs this week. lovely...

And aside from that, Owen got sick. I should have known that something was up with all these late night issues we've been having. He was really sick on Saturday- of course, a holiday when the doctor's offices are closed (why does that happen?). So- we got him in for an appointment on Sunday- strep throat and a sinus infection. On meds now so should be on the mend. So- we start the new year off with some sickness, but hoepfully the year brings us health and happiness!

A video from Christmas

ok- so I cant seem to post the one video of Owen not enjoying the beginning of Christmas... Though- I can post the video of him enjoying one of his new toys. Lets just say that I hope, for everyone's sake, that he chooses to follow a different path than a pilot...

Not much is going on with us. I am enjoying my vacation time, and sad to think it's already more than halfway over. I have a lot that I would like to get done today while the kids are at daycare and I think Hunter and I are going to do a little shopping/bonding time. Tonight- dinner with some girlfriends- and so excited because the location chosen is literally 5 minutes from my house!

On a sad note, my heart hurts for a mommy friend. Please keep Jen and her family in your prayers. I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. :(

Ornament Exchange Link UP!

I participated in my first ever ornament exchange via blog and I was so glad I joined. Thank you so much to Shannon and Karen for hosting! There were 44 participants and I got linked up with Suze . It's so fun to meet new people!

I came home the other day and was so excited to find my package. Sean brought it inside and I wouldn't let him open it.

Inside she included a cute little Christmas card with such nice writing. I felt bad as when I sent mine, I put in a quick note, but didnt think to do a card. Oops!

And here is the gorgeous ornament I received. I LOVE it! It truly is one of my favorites I have ever gotten!

Owen loved it too- he thought it was the greatest ball he ever saw...
He didnt want to put it down....

I finally got him to help hang it on the tree...

Isnt it great???

Owen did not enjoy that it was hung though...he wanted to keep playing with it!

Suze- thank you so much! We love it. Wishing you a fantastic holiday season!!!

Small World

Do you ever think the world is small? I live my life thinking that things happen for a reason, people come in and out of your lives with a purpose, etc... I attribute where I am today, for example due to having Hunter.

Example- I went to college, had Hunter, left school, started up at local college to finish up, met a friend there who worked for a fortune 500 company, got a job, got referred to current job, moved to be closer to current job...love current job (6 years later) and house.

Example- my girlfriend planned a girls night out 5 years ago... I couldn't go- I didn't have a sitter and figured it wasn't that big of a deal. I got a sitter (neighborhood girl- knew the family) last minute and decided to go out. Met husband who only happened to be out for a bachelor's party and the rest is history. I seriously don't know if I would have met Sean had it not been for that night out.

Ok- blog world...new set of coincidences...

I was reading blogs one day and while reading my friend Gia's blog A Life In Progress I stumbled across Karen's blog Karen at Home and was intrigued. I loved her home decorating, her pregnancy stories and now of course, baby Jillian. Well- we started emailing and holy cow the coincidences...
Not only do we have sweet baby girls close in age, we have found out that...
  • we went to the same college
  • we dated guys who were friends with each other (though we dated them at different times)
  • she lives in the city I used to live in, while I live on the side of town she used to live in
  • we've been to the same parties
  • in college, our sororities were right next door to each other
  • Sean knows her "big" sister in her sorority
  • she went to the same high school as my college roommate
Can the world be any smaller? I started telling Sean of course all of my new coincidences... I think he was afraid I was leaving him for her! He doesn't have to worry- but it's nice to have made a new friend. I have visions of Quinlin and Jillian becoming little buddies one day!
