Note to self...

Do not leave the computer on and in site of curious little hands. I do not know what said 3 year old's curious hands exactly pressed, but after coming downstairs to Sean yelling for me to get down there I discovered some images on the computer not meant for little eyes (or big eyes for that matter and I am not a prude). Oh the crazy internet.
Owen "Mommy- they were n_ked" not even realizing exactly what he was looking at.
Sean "Oh Owen- they must have just taken a bath"

Good explanation, Sean. We quickly asked Hunter if he was playing on the computer. An even quicker "no" came from his mouth that he isn't stupid and wouldn't risk being grounded forever. So- note to self...shut down if not in use.

She's too early for terrible two's...right?

Favorite words this morning (and lately actually)... "Mine" and "I do it".
I think we have a long road ahead...

Weekend Recap- a Pumpkin Patch (picture heavy)

Another low key weekend for us. We wanted to take the kids to an inflatable jump zone on Friday night but Mr. Owen didn't cooperate so we stayed in. Hunter went to the high school football game and I caught up on my dvr. all in all- not a bad night.

On Saturday, I drove to where I grew up and attended a wake for a friend from high school who's father passed away. it was nice to see old high school friends- people I had lost touch with though reconnected with on facebook. Very low key, happy event- they wanted it that way. I came home and we packed up the babies for their first sleep over from home. They went to my in-laws and did pretty well. Sean and I didn't plan anything- wanted to be local and close in case we needed to pick them up that night. We went to dinner at an Italian restaurant and then briefly walked around the mall. and home by 9:30... such losers! ha! We talked about going to a movie, but again, if we needed to rush over there, needed to be available. When we got home, the house was quite. it was a weird feeling to not have them there.

Sunday morning Sean went fishing. I waited for Hunter to wake up and then we headed over to my in laws about 11am to get the kids. They did well there, though Quinlin wouldn't go to sleep. We've been having this issue with her at home too but are staying firm and letting her cry it out. Instead of sleeping in the crib at Grandma's, they fell asleep together in the queen size bed- holding hands. Is that not the cutest thing? I brought them home about 1pm for nap time, watched some football and when they woke up we went to the local pumpkin patch. We loved it.

 Climbing the haystacks

 a turkey- very close

 The pumpkin cannonballs

Quinlin did not want to put her head in the hole
We brought home two pumpkins, kettle corn and a caramel apple. Hope to carve the pumpkins tonight!

Family Photos- Wordless Wednesday Edition

We had a session with Colleen Reed Photography at the end of August. I forgot to post some of our favorites. It's been so fun to watch my children grow through her eyes...she has an amazing eye and gets just the right picture.

Just think... we were once this tiny:
Quinlin- 2 1/2 months
Owen- 3 months
Hunter- almost 12

our family April 2010

and now... these were taken August 25, 2011. Hunter 14 1/2, Owen 3, Quinlin 19 1/2 months

It's funny to look back on how we've grown... especially even pictures of Hunter. Sean and I refuse to think we are aging...ignore the grey hair and wrinkles. Poor Colleen- I always stress about my eyes and needing airbrushing! But she puts up with us... and we're glad for it!

Dear Quinlin- 21 months

21 months old. almost 2. when did that happen? 21 months is such a fun age. I remember with Owen dreading months 16-20, but loving when he turned 21 months. With Quinlin, we never really hit the tantrum phase like Owen did, and it has been a breeze (did I just jinx myself?)

21 months has brought a whole new independence to our world. She likes to help get dressed on her own. She likes to zip her zippers and take her own clothes off. She loves being in just a diaper and dances around "nakey butt, nakey butt". And heaven forbid you carry her down the stairs. she prefers to walk now...on her own.
  • We have started to slim down so I'm not sure of height and weight.
  • At 21 months, we wear size 6 shoes, size 4 diapers and size 2T clothes. She can still wear some 18-24 month items (mostly shirts) and 2T is too big on her, so I'm hoping she might plateau for a while and get some good use out of them.
  • 21 months has us seen a huge language explosion. She is so funny- and the words that come out of her mouth are even funnier. She can now name all her animal sounds, she counts if you leave off at 2, for example, she says 3, 4. She is starting to learn colors but I think just likes to say blue to all of them. She did shock me once by saying pink correctly.
  • Favorite songs include- Bingo, Old McDonald and Twinkle Twinkle.
  • Bedtime is now between 8-8:30pm
  • Favorite toys are her stuffed animals, baby doll Amelia, books, and I just discovered her playing with a barbie at school (and trying so hard to get the shoe on)... I cannot wait until the holidays and she can open her very own barbie doll.
I love this little girl...

Pictures to come tomorrow- I need to actually post them from our photo session that I never posted before.

Weekend Recap

We had a long weekend through work and were given a partial day on Thursday and Friday off. It's amazing how when the long weekend starts, you think you have so much time, and before you know it, it's Sunday night, you're putting away all the laundry and setting outfits out for the next day.

Friday morning I went back to the salon to get my hair fixed. I don't think I referenced on here about my hair...but I went to the salon a week ago and just got a trim but decided to put some blond back into it. Well the blond totally damaged my ends. I didn't really notice anything right away, but my sister in law was over and noticed I had hair dye all over the back of my shirt. I spoke to my stylist who suggested hair spray to lift the stain. I tried it and most came out but it's still ruined. She told me the salon doesn't do anything in regards to if items get damaged (WTF, it's not like I asked for my shirt to be ruined) but said maybe she could take 10 or 20% off the next time I came in. Yes please. Anyway, the following day, I noticed all my ends were still damaged- if not worse from the blond, so I contacted my stylist and she squeezed me in on Friday to fix it. I don't know if it's fixed, but it will do for now.

We also got the new entertainment unit delivered on Friday. I refuse to post pictures until it's staged with the right photos/ accessories, but it looks pretty cool. Pretty massive though on our wall. We spent Friday afternoon hooking up the new TV and we love it. We then picked up the kids and attempted soccer. Let's just say, at 3 years old, soccer just isn't our thing...

The team all gathered to learn, then there was Owen...

He mixed in with his teammates for a little...
then decided he didn't want to play and carried off his ball...

they were practicing their penguin kicks, Owen went behind the goal to do his own.
a little "what time is it Mr. Fox" and Owen just stood by the goal

 and watched.
I believe it was at this point we decided we were done.
So- needless to say, I think we are hanging up the shin guards for the season.

Friday night Sean went to the local bar with his buddy in town from Columbus and I stayed in with the kids. He did bring me home some wings (yay). Saturday he went to a golf outing and I had plans and then I went to my girlfriend's annual slumber party. So much fun. It was such a gorgeous night that we sat outside on the patio and drank wine and ate (and ate).

Sunday morning we took the kids to the kiddie park. Knowing it was going to be one of the last weekends to be able to do something fun like that, we went there as opposed to the usual pumpkin patches as we knew those would be crowded. The kiddie park was empty. It was fantastic.

They had a blast- it really is fun to have the two of them so close in age to do this kind of thing together. Sean wanted to ask his friends if they wanted to meet us up there with their kids, but I liked that it was just us and they could ride together.

The rest of Sunday was mostly lazy. My parents came over so the kids got to spend time with them and we had dinner and they helped me bathe them, etc while Sean was at work.

It was a good weekend.

Is it Friday yet?
